One of the unique aspects of Mombasa Butterfly House is its focus on education and conservation. The centre provides insightful educational tours, rich educational panels, where guides share valuable information about the butterfly species on display, their habitats, and their role in the ecosystem.
With its unique platform and relaxed atmosphere, the centre bridges conservation education and science. This is implemented in a simple and understandable language to people, schools and public. It is where conservation recommendations are easily accessible and delivered in changing peoples’ attitudes to support nature conservation.
Engaging schools in matters nature conservation has been a major uptake by the butterfly house, to ensure environmental awareness is key, and to empower youths to be stewards of their own environment. We also engage teachers and wildlife clubs to develop activities that can utilise the butterfly housefor practical conservation activities, experience and learn how to integrate conservation education into their programmes. As such, Mombasa Butterfly House provides a ‘nature space’ set up within the Mombasa urban landscape for schools to visit.
Captivate the imaginations of young minds
The Mombasa Butterfly House is also a fantastic place for children to explore. The colorful butterflies, the fascinating life cycles, and the abundance of plant life captivate the imaginations of young minds. The educational aspect of the experience is a wonderful opportunity to teach children about nature, the importance of conservation, and the delicate balance of ecosystems.
